About Us
History
In 1949, George Hart founded Alameda Ornamental Iron as a one-man shop, working out of his garage. In 1972, the company was incorporated. Walter Schill began working with the company as an installer and then a salesman. He bought the business in 1974 and moved its operations to our current location, and eventually added a second location to house additional fabrication and installation crews. In 1978, Ann Schill, Walter’s wife, came to manage the office. In the 1990’s Walter’s son Kurt, daughter Susan and son-in law Gene became very active in the day to day business activities. In 2004, after Walter passed away, Ann continued to run Alameda Ornamental Iron. In 2008, Gene formed Griffin Specialties, Inc. and purchased Alameda Ornamental Iron from Ann. Today the family is still involved in the day to day operations of Alameda Ornamental Iron. We are truly a family owned and operated business, dedicated to long term service, honesty, integrity and an uncompromising quality of product. We look forward to continuing to serve the community for many more years. |
